Position Summary:
Electrical Safety Support, a rapidly growing third-party, electrical testing and consulting company is currently seeking an experienced PV technician to support our service offerings in the Bay Area CA. Individual is expected to work with a team of employees to clean and maintain PV systems on roofs or other structures in compliance with site assessment and schematics. Individual may perform tasks that include measuring, cutting, assembling, and bolting structural framing and solar modules. May perform minor electrical work such as current checks. And my occasionally install PV systems in accordance with codes and standards, using drawings, schematics, and instructions. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Mountain View, CA or be willing to relocate to be considered for this position.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Work with a team to perform routine cleaning of solar arrays to increase or sustain efficiency
Perform routine maintenance checks which include the following.
Monitor output Efficiency
Inspection of Panel units (Glass, wiring, inverter) for damage
Inspection of signage for damage
Inspection of framework for signs of damage, warping or corrosion
Structural integrity of solar modules and arrays
Verification of ratings, throughout the system
Inspection of all disconnect switches, grounding and surge suppression equipment associated with the system
Perform UAS Infrared Scanning and aerial photos of before/after maintenance
Tests operating voltages: calibrate to ensure systems are within acceptable power limits.
Determine appropriate sizes, ratings, and locations for all system over current devices, disconnect devices, grounding equipment and surge suppression equipment
Identify methods for laying out, orienting, and mounting modules or arrays to ensure efficient installation, electrical configuration, or system maintenance.
Assembles and installs solar modules, panels on roofs and other structures as specified as well as implement measures to disable arrays during installation
Configures solar systems based on site conditions and customers’ needs and expectations
Follows building standards and codes when installing panels and support structures.
Ensures that solar equipment, building, or support mechanisms are weather sealed.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Vocational or technical school training preferred.
Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel
Possess a valid driver’s license and currently have and be able to maintain a safe driving record
Must be able to work at great heights.
Prolonged periods of kneeling, bending, crouching, and climbing ladders.
Willing to work flexible hours, weekends, holidays, and night work
Must be able to pass a pre-employment, periodic and random drug screening
Desired Qualifications
NABCEP Certification is preferred but not required.
C-10 or C-46 License
Previous related experience preferred.
Experience with solar systems, electrical safety systems and components to protect employees, customers, and equipment
